Ayurveda
In the Ayurveda tradition, storing water in copper vessels is an important practice.
Water stored in a copper vessel, known in Sanskrit as 'tamara jal' has the ability to balance the three doshas - Kapha, Pitta, and Vata.
Benefits
The positive copper ions released into the water alkalize it and give it antibacterial properties.
Copper also has anti-inflammatory properties and acts against free radicals in the body. This supports skin cell regeneration and prevents the formation of fine lines.
Water stored in copper vessels also aids in detoxifying the body. It regulates the functions of the liver and kidneys, contributes to the elimination of waste, and facilitates the proper absorption of nutrients.
Features
Asteya copper bottles are handcrafted by artisans in the Moradabad region, India.
The jugs have no joints, and each jug comes with a copper lid, which can be used as a cup for drinking water stored in the jug.
Maintenance
Asteya jugs are durable and do not require special maintenance. However, as copper is a natural material, it is subject to oxidation, a process that may occur depending on usage frequency.
In such cases, we recommend cleaning the bottle and/or the lid with a cloth soaked in lemon juice or vinegar and then in salt, rubbing the vessel walls until the oxide layer disappears.
We recommend this process before the first use as well, to eliminate any possible small residues from the manual production process or oxidation points that may occur during transportation.
Maintained in this way, copper jugs can be used for years without any issues.
